Web Design Vis–vis The “Father Of The Internet”

Web Design is an industry that has a huge market potential even till this day that every has awareness of it, in various levels and levels of talent. Most DIY website design architects use easily accessed templates such as WordPress and start off his “web development” project easily.

But commercial and professional website designers and developers don’t go short of roles since the requirement for their skills and abilities seems to grow each day. Their Website Designs have helped businesses, individuals, non-profit and other organizations boost their existence worldwide through web sites with ecommerce / web selling attributes, blogs, social media, acclaim and survey polls, conversation et cetera. It is a wonder how the Earth has seemingly shrunk because of the ease and potency people get anything and everything under the sun with the wonderful computer and the Net.

Isn’t it just fitting to thank whoever began this all and how it happened? A little bit of history

The beginnings of the internet goes back to as early as the 1950s and 1960s when the 1st computers were created. It wasn’t as we all know it today but was of a simple point-to-point communication link among mainframe computers and terminals. It later expanded to point-to-point connections involving computers.

The concept of the internet as we all know it currently is one that we should thank the Soviets for. When the USSR launched the Sputnik in 1957 as the 1st synthetic satellite to orbit the Earth, it pushed the United States to form the Advanced Research Projects Agency ( ARPA ) the following year to get back technical superiority. ARPA, in turn, made the Data Processing Technology Office ( IPTO ) which became accountable for networking, for the first time, countrywide radar systems together. It was all military in the beginning and IPTO was charged to address the survivability of their communications network. Information Technology ( IT ) experts from Harvard College and MIT were employed by IPTO and its sub setups for its communications networking project.

In 1965, Lawrence Roberts was inducted into the project due to his understanding of the packet switching technology which guaranteed better network robustness and catastrophe survivability. Based primarily on the technology, Leonard Kleinrock, a UCLA professor developed the unproven foundations of packet networking in 1962 and hierarchical routing in the 1970s. A two-level hierarchical routing is the bedrock of the Transmission Control Custom / Web Protocol ( TCP / IP ). It took some more enhancements and refinements of the original TCP / IP convention until TCP / IPv4 ( version four ) achieved the required level of stability for the “robust, fault-tolerant and dispersed PC networks” that was the dream and goal of the US government at that time and became, and still is, the standard custom employed by the Web as we all know it currently.

So based primarily on the main cause of it all, is it correct to assert that the “Father of the Internet?”, and therefore of everything that utilises the Web including Website Design, is the USSR?
